Well, just wanted to give the heads up, that this diary will be undergoing a few changes.

First, 2008 will be the year of a poem a day. Yes, some will suck, but bear with. Some will have parts that are actually good. When I wrote the recommendation for a co-worker as a poem, where I actually was trying to force rhymes, since I figured it would have a greater chance of being read out loud in our company meeting, (wrong, but still glad I forced myself to try and rhyme), the whole process reminded me that I enjoyed such a thing. Writing poems. I used to be quite a prolific poem writer, junior high, high school and college. It was how I fell into writing, since my first written efforts were indeed poems with illustrations, back when I was eight or so. One Christmas, when I was very broke, that was what I gave everyone in my friend circle: A unique poem created just for them. I think some of them enjoyed that more than just a material possession, so think of each day's poem as a gift from me to you!

Which leads us to my motto/resolution for the New Year: me first! Last year's motto was "It can't get any worse" or alternatively, later in the year: "It's got to get better!" Somehow neither of those mantras helped. So no negativity, no complaining, but focusing on the positive and what I enjoy, what makes me happy, so therefore, me first. I made an effort at another time in my life when I was depressed to make sure I had something enjoyable to look forward to each week, buying myself tickets to things I normally would have put behind the rent and bills, and found that by putting them first, miraculously everything always got paid. I couldn't believe that it worked, because previously I allowed myself something extra always after the necessities. But my happiness is a necessity too, so that will be happening again this year. So it's a take care of myself, make myself happy mantra this year. Maybe that's it: Make Me Happy, First and Foremost! We will see where that gets me by the end of the year.

And thirdly, I will be changing my posting site here sometime soon, going to another site that has a little more ability to interact, where I can post pictures and all. Perhaps I will keep the poems here, and move the actual writing about my life over to the new site. Well, anyway, stay tuned, as the new year calls for new changes.
