The sun set pink tonight, the clouds little pink puffs in the sky.
I was driving east, due east, when I saw this piece of beauty, and I thought, What a great way to end the first day of the new year.
It made me smile.
I thought, I should look for beauty each day of this new year, look for it, find it, and record it each day, each beautiful, glorious day of the year.
I was driving East on my way to Riverside, to look for the river in Riverside. Surely it was here somewhere?
I had driven West to see the ocean, gone to Malibu, to remind myself, I could.
Up the Pacific Coast Highway, the One, to Oxnard. Because I could and can.
There are so many little towns and communities and treasures to explore in easy driving range, and I don't. Why not?
I forget how easy it is to roam.
I could spend each weekend this year discovering them all. I could. But it would be more fun to do it with someone else.
The 101 appeared and I took it back to town, to see where it went.
5, 110, 60 or 10 were my choices. O! How convenient! And thence on the 60 to Riverside.
I never found the river, but I saw it on a map.
The adventure was in the looking, and the finding was incidental. Some other time. when the sun hasn't yet set. I may find its glint then. It doesn't matter, really. But it was fun, nonetheless.
