A gallon of gas

that will get me a few
more miles from
this godforsaken place

or a pack of cigarettes

to pass the time
wherever I am.

There once was a day
back when
where there was no option
either/or
it was both
everyday.

But those days have passed
and I don't know
if I'll ever get them back.

So today
it's a question of
a pack of cigarettes
or a gallon of gas?
